CBSE Cluster I Kabaddi Tournament Concludes at Shrimanta Shankar Academy, Dispur

Shrimanta Shankar Academy, Dispur, had the proud privilege of hosting the CBSE Cluster I Kabaddi Tournament for the entire North Eastern region from 8th to 10th August 2025.

This was the first time the Academy organized such a prestigious event, making it a landmark achievement in the school’s sporting calendar.

A Grand Opening Ceremony

The tournament commenced with an impressive opening ceremony on 8th August. The event was inaugurated by distinguished guests, dignitaries from the CBSE sports board, and members of the school management. The ceremony began with the hoisting of the CBSE sports flag, followed by a vibrant cultural performance by the students of Shrimanta Shankar Academy. The spirit of sportsmanship and unity was evident as players from different North Eastern states marched in the traditional parade, proudly representing their schools.

Participation Across Categories

The tournament was conducted under three competitive categories: Under 14, Under 17, and Under 19, with separate fixtures for boys and girls. A total of 22 teams participated, bringing together 536 talented young athletes. Each match witnessed intense competition, showcasing the dedication, discipline, and skills of the budding players. The thunderous cheers from the audience added to the electrifying atmosphere, turning the school grounds into a true arena of sportsmanship.

Student Experiences and Team Spirit

Beyond the competition, the event became a platform for cultural exchange and camaraderie. Students shared their excitement about meeting peers from across the region, learning from one another, and experiencing the vibrant hospitality of the host school. Many expressed how the tournament boosted their confidence and motivated them to train harder for future championships. Closing Ceremony and Felicitations

The tournament concluded on 10th August with a grand closing ceremony. Winners in each category were felicitated with trophies, medals, and certificates, honoring their outstanding performances. The closing event also highlighted the efforts of the coaches, referees, volunteers, and organizing committee, whose dedication ensured the smooth execution of the tournament.

In his closing address, the Principal of Shrimanta Shankar Academy congratulated all the participating teams and encouraged students to pursue sports with the same passion as academics. He emphasized that such events not only nurture sporting talent but also build character, leadership, and lifelong friendships.
